Mixed Martial Arts - MMA Classes in Wigan

Mixed Martial Arts is growing in popularity thanks to homegrown championships such as Cage Warriors, BAMMA and Full Contact Contender to the likes of global organisations UFC, Bellator and One FC.

At MCKG, we offer specialised MMA training to deliver a complete game for anyone looking to fight in the cage or for those just interested in training MMA.

Unlike some other martial arts clubs that offer one specific class, our MMA programme is broken into two separate martial arts classes, each devised by Erik Paulson, former Shooto champion and coach of Brock Lesnar, Josh Barnett, Ken Shamrock and Sean Sherk.

These classes, taught by Erik Paulson certified instructor Mel Corrigan, are STX Kickboxing and Combat Submission Wrestling.

STX Kickboxing

STX Kickboxing is an advanced stand-up striking system, offering the most effective techniques from a range of striking martial arts including kick boxing, Thai boxing (Muay Thai and Dutch style), the French art of Savate and Western boxing.

Blending a variety of striking martial arts provides fighters and students with a complete stand-up arsenal that will allow them to excel in all areas of striking involving kicks, punches, knees, elbows, footwork and clinch work.

CSW – Combat Submission Wrestling

Combat Submission Wrestling, or CSW as it is often abbreviated to, is an advanced, no-gi wrestling-based system that encompasses a selection of the greatest submission, newaza and grappling styles to create the ultimate framework for any individual looking to master the ground game needed in MMA.

Taking the very best of catch wrestling (catch-as-catch-can), Greco-Roman wrestling and Olympic wrestling, CSW delivers a solid technical system to effectively wrestle, throw, takedown, defend, dominate, lock, choke and submit your opponent.
